Being elegant, stylish and hip comes naturally to The Principal Madrid. Perfectly located in the city centre on Gran Via where shopping, art, theatre are the Must Do’s, the hotel is a proud member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
The Principal Madrid
Arriving at The Principal Madrid is like arriving at the coolest private members club in town. At the very discreet entrance on a side street off the soon to be pedestrianised Gran Via, guests are escorted into a small reception room which could be mistaken for a private home as family portraits line the walls. From here the guests are taken to one of two lifts to take them to Reception on the 6th floor. Here the Guest Relations team welcome them into the drawing room style lobby offering a glass of cava on arrival. Perfect for those guests wanting more attention and less noise.
Food Glorious Food
Ático is two Michelin starred Chef Ramón Freixa’s most intuitive and informal gastronomic culinary experience. Simple Prêt-à-Porter dishes based on traditional Spanish recipes, but which nevertheless are guaranteed to surprise. Intuitive and fresh cooking with an innovative and creative flourish presented beautifully.
The OA Team favourite is La Pérgola terrace which commands some of the most impressive views of Madrid. In the warm months (ie most of the year!) the glass wall overlooking the Gran Via is removed and guests can soak up the heat whilst enjoying the cocktails of award-winning mixologist, Manel Vehí.
La Terraza on the seventh floor, with its jaw-dropping 360º views of the Madrid skyline is where guests and locals enjoy the privacy of the hotel whilst still being in the heart of the city.
Time for Bed
Each of the stylish 76 rooms and suites offer quality and comfort. The grey tones, fabric wallpapers and shiny black tiled bathrooms never feel too dark thanks to the abundance of natural light from the high floors of the hotel. Soundproofing is excellent from triple glazing, expect no noise!
Toiletries are organically made from Majorcan Finca Gayeta and are exclusive to Unico Hotels.
Some suites offer terraces with sun loungers for extra sun soaking and indeed it is a perfect spot for breakfast or a sundowner. Some bedrooms also offer balconies.
All rooms have king size or twin beds, free wi-fi, Nespresso machines, infusion teas and complimentary shoe cleaning service. For added comfort, all beds have feather mattress toppers but if more relaxation is needed, we recommend the hotel’s Wellness Suite which is purely for hotel guests.
Be wowed by
The scarlet sun loungers at the Solarium for soaking up the Spanish rays and listening to the overflow pool. Pack your yoga gear as guests can enjoy complimentary Yoga or Pilates on the terrace most mornings.
And one more thing
The team here care, and we mean really care. Expect advice on unique experiences as these locals are proud of Madrid and all the magic it has to offer.
